A Message from the "R" Isaiah 43:1-3a “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you O Israel: Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” While God reminds us constantly throughout His word that He is with us every moment, the passage from Isaiah 43 is particularly powerful. This passage, combined with the theme song, My Savior My God, by Aaron Shust, is a beautiful reminder of the awesome and loving God who created us, loves us, and will never leave us. In the 162 weekends that will have taken place before E-163, the Teams have relied on God to guide them in carrying out His work during the teaming process and the three days on the Mountain. The unexpected can happen on a weekend. But, no matter how hard Satan tries to interrupt, God is there to ensure nothing interferes with His plans. As He did so many times with the Israelites, God reminds us that He is not a distant God. He is not a God that only responds to 9-1-1 calls when we, in our feeble attempt at running things, find ourselves in the midst of a crisis. In the highs, the lows, and the calm days of our lives, He is with us always. I believe He chose this theme long ago for E-163 because there will be men on the weekend who need this reassurance. He knows every pain that will be carried to His Mountain. He knows every tear that will be shed. He knows every laugh that will be shared. He will heal all wounds that need healing and, in the process, He will transform lives. I am humbled and honored to serve God on E-163 and He called a faithful and powerful group of men to serve with me. Where I am deficient, these men are more than sufficient. I pray that God puts a prospective pilgrim on your heart and that they will hear His call. I also cherish your prayers during our team preparations and as God performs mighty deeds on the Weekend. May God bless all of my Brothers and Sisters in the Emmaus Community.
