A Message from the "R" "Here I am Lord!” Isaiah 6:8 – Also I heard a voice of the Lord saying whom shall I send and who will go for us? Then I said “Here I am, send me.” When I was called to be the Rector of E-147 I thought of all the giants that have gone before me as Rector’s. The men I have served with have done great jobs as Rectors and I didn’t feel qualified to be considered for many reasons. Then I had a flashback to E-45 when I heard the song “Here I Am Lord, Send Me”. There on the mountain, I raised my hand in the air and said “I will go Lord if you lead me. After that I was given a verse about Moses. God called Moses and Moses said “If you please Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past, nor recently, nor now that you have spoken to your servant; but I am slow of speech and tongue”. Finally, I heard about a book called “Twelve Ordinary Men”. I realized that the disciples were ordinary men. I saw that God called Moses and the disciples and did a great work through them. I am asking the Lord to lead me and the team at this time and place. The team of E-147, as ordinary men like the disciples has said “Here I Am, Send Me”. In the Christmas season that has just past, I heard the story again about Mary and Joseph and how they were ordinary people in an ordinary place. Yet God used them accomplish an extraordinary event. Of course I am talking about the birth of Jesus Christ. We are open to God leading us to the mountain in April and using us as ordinary people to touch hearts and change lives. The team knows that with God’s leading the pilgrims and team members alike will grow stronger for Christ. It is such an honor to be part of God’s plan even knowing that he doesn’t have to use us, but he chooses to use us. We are excited to see God move on E-147. Keep praying for the team and the pilgrims of E-147 that we will keep our eyes on Jesus. Pray that everything that we do will bring praise and honor to Jesus and that God will look down and say “It is good” or at least I can work with that. Yours in Christ, Don Watkins, Rector, E-147 Pilgrims Paul C Andersen - Our Savior's Way Lutheran Church, Ashburn Charlie Carrol - Quest Church, Manassas, VA Eric Downer David Manthey - St. John's UMC, Springfield , VA Brian McDonald - Triangle Baptist Church, Triangle, VA Sly Samudre - Grace Baptist, Woodbridge, VA John Swift - Hatcher’s Memorial Baptist, Bristow, VA
