A Message from the WLD Our theme is “You Are Special” which comes from the title of a children’s book by Max Lucado. It is a beautiful book, which is about not letting the impressions of the world determine your worth. Our scripture verse is Romans 8: 38 – 39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” So often we separate ourselves from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord, just like the characters in the book. We let all the comments from the world to make an imprint on us. We let the praises and the complaints, the accolades and the disappointments stick to us. But that is not what God has intended for us. We are all children of God. He made each and every one of us with unique looks, talents, abilities, and even shortcomings. He knows us inside and out, our good and our bad and He loves us anyway! Because He is our maker, our sustainer, our Father Now here’s where the ducks fit in – you see, ducks are very special creatures. God created them with specific talents and gifts. God created ducks with neat feathers. They are coated in oil that protects them. Ducks are able to fly and swim because of their unique feathers. Because of the oil on their feathers, the water doesn’t stick, much like the dots and stars in Punchinello’s story. If the water did stick, the duck’s feathers would get wet and then they couldn’t fly. That is the way it is with us. The impressions of the world can drag us down – maybe you don’t think you are pretty enough, or smart enough, or strong enough, or too smart, or too pretty, or too strong. We let the world tell us who we are. Instead we need to be like the ducks and like some of the characters in the story and listen to what God says. God says NOTHING can separate you from His love! When we listen to God, we can truly be all God wants us to be, we can be free to run, free to fly and free to live for God! I Am Free Pilgrims
