A Message from the WLD How Deep the Father’s Love for Us… This is not a question. It is more of a pondering, a search for some fragment of understanding of the depth of God’s love for us. I have come to the realization that unless I conjure all my emotion and concentrate all my feelings, I cannot begin to fathom the magnitude of this love. I am human. Try as I may, I am without the capacity to feel it in the confines of this human body. Paul prays this blessing in Ephesians 3:14-19. “For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of His glorious riches, He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have the power together with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge and that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Through this prayer, Paul makes it clear to me that it would
take the power of all the saints to grasp any understanding of this
love that
surpasses our knowledge. I get a vision of all the saints amassed
in a heavenly great-room, summoning their Godly powers in unison
in order
that I might receive one fraction of understanding of God’s
love. In this text he acknowledges the limitations of man and at
the same time
our need as humans to be rooted in a Supreme love and hope, in
order that we might endure the challenges of this earthly life.
Like the dog
under the table, I eagerly take whatever crumbs of insight that
fall my way. It is my deepest prayer that through His Emmaus Community
and
His selected Team, His Pilgrims of E126 will gain a thread, a grain
of understanding of the depth of the Lord’s love for them.
It is this great power, this love, that moves mountains, makes
miracles, heals all
depth of hurt and lifts us up in the light of hope. I pray that
this is His gift that awaits us on the mountain top in September.
